Obstetrics and Gynaecology (Blackwell Wiley) by Impey and Child (5th edition)

Target readership: primarily medical students, also useful for obstetric trainees, GPs and midwives.

This book was commissioned by Blackwell Science and first published in 1999. It won the Royal Society of Medicine/ Society of Authors Asher Prize, and rapidly became the leading and bestselling (in the UK) textbook in its field, a position it has held ever since. A second edition followed in 2004, and the third, with the addition of Tim Child as co-author, in 2008. The fourth edition was published in 2012.

Oxford Handbook of Obstetrics and Gynaecology by Collins, Arulkumaran, Hayes, Jackson and Impey (2nd edition)

Target readership: obstetric trainees, also useful for GPs, medical students and midwives.

This book was completely re-written for its in 2008 2nd edition, under the senior editors Sabaratnam Arulkumaran and Lawrence Impey.

It has rapidly become a very popular book both in the UK and abroad. Ranked No 11 of all OUP medical books.
