What is NIPT?
NIPT (Non Invasive Prenatal Test) is a blood test which analyses a small amount of baby’s DNA found in the mother’s blood. It can give a strong indication if the baby has Down's syndrome. There are several laboratories which carry out this analysis. We offer the Panorama test which has a reporting time of approximately 10 calendar days and will assess the most common chromosome conditions such as Down's syndrome (also known as trisomy 21), Edwards syndrome (trisomy 18) and Patau syndrome (trisomy 13); but can also test for some additional rarer conditions.
